About Ogaga Asamaige

I am Ogaga Asamaige, a commercial and editorial photographer based in Lagos, Nigeria.

I photograph people, mostly — for campaigns, editorials, album covers and the quieter personal projects in between. What holds my attention is the moment a portrait stops being a picture of someone and starts being about them. I work toward that moment with patience, direction when it helps, and silence when it doesn’t.

Lagos is in everything I make. The city moves fast and dresses well, and it taught me to see colour, style and self-possession as everyday materials rather than special occasions. I don’t photograph Lagos as a backdrop — it’s a collaborator.

I’m drawn to people making things: designers, musicians, chefs, builders of small ambitious brands. The commissions I enjoy most are the ones where the client has a real story and trusts me to find the frames for it.
